Abstract
This paper analyzes the principles and methods for enhancing the resistance of concrete to physical and/or mechanical impacts, in accordance with Principle 5, Part 9 of the EN 1504 standard. Drawing on current European and American research and industry practices, the study examines advanced repair and protection techniques for high-strength concrete floors, particularly in the context of post-war reconstruction of urban infrastructure in Ukraine. Three key methods — surface coating, impregnation, and overlay application — are reviewed for their effectiveness in improving abrasion resistance, impact resistance, and long-term durability. The paper outlines technological requirements, material specifications, and quality control measures essential for achieving reliable structural performance under demanding operational conditions. These solutions provide a systematic framework for restoring damaged civil and industrial buildings, ensuring compliance with international standards, extending service life, and reducing future maintenance costs, thereby supporting the sustainable and resilient recovery of war-affected cities.
